Drilon Hazrollaj Seeks Redemption with Rapid After Disappointing Year

Kosovar footballer Drilon Hazrollaj has faced significant challenges during his first year with Rapid Bucharest, failing to score in any matches and dealing with a troublesome pubalgia. The 22-year-old winger, who was signed for €900,000 by Dan Șucu, has struggled to secure a regular spot under coach Constantin Gâlcă, who has given him limited playing time.
Despite his disappointing performance, the club is hopeful for improvement as Hazrollaj remains contracted until 2028, with an option for an additional year. A parting at this stage would not be seen as beneficial, as Rapid anticipates a resurgence in his play.
Hazrollaj was included in coach Pancu’s squad for their training camp in Austria, where he scored in a recent friendly against CS Afumați that ended in a 9-2 victory.
Hope for a Bright Future: Expectations for Hazrollaj
The press in Kosovo remains optimistic about Hazrollaj’s potential, despite acknowledging his underwhelming performance at Rapid. Journalist Lorik Gërbeshi expressed hope that he could become one of Rapid’s most explosive players in the upcoming season, citing impressive performances during his time with Malisheva, where he scored 48 goals in 95 appearances and provided 20 assists.
Gërbeshi noted, “Although he has not been at his best lately, there are expectations for him to shine next season based on his past exploits in Kosovo.” However, his recent decline is also evident in his market value, which has dropped from €700,000 in the spring to €400,000 now.
Interest in Leard Sadriu from Bulgaria
Regarding fellow Kosovo player Leard Sadriu, who plays for FC Argeș, Gërbeshi confirmed interest from Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia, who have been tracking his performances. He stated, “Sadriu’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and it’s anticipated that his next move will be outside his current league, with concrete interest from Levski Sofia.”
