Ukraine Implements Emergency Power Outages Amid Rising Consumption

Emergency power outages were announced in Kyiv, Ukraine, as the national energy company, Ukrenergo, reported issues with electricity supply in various regions. The outages are a response to increased energy consumption due to the persistent heat waves affecting the country.
As of June 25, at 9:30 AM, electricity consumption was recorded at 3.7% higher than the same time the previous day, largely driven by the use of air conditioning units. On June 24, the maximum daily consumption was noted in the evening, which was 1% lower than the peak the day before.
Energy officials advised residents to shift their energy use to earlier in the day, before 4:00 PM, and to conserve electricity between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
Ukrenergo also indicated that power outages were implemented due to a technological failure at one of the energy facilities. The outages affect all categories of consumers in parts of the capital.
Reports indicated that the right bank residents of Kyiv experienced unscheduled power cut notifications. The energy company DTEK also confirmed outages on the left bank of the city.
