Vlad Chiricheș Set to Depart FCSB as Raul Rusescu Confirms Impending Split

Raul Rusescu, a former teammate of Vlad Chiricheș at FCSB, has indicated that the veteran player’s official departure from the club is merely a matter of time. Rusescu, now 37, expressed his insights on the situation, suggesting that significant changes are impending.
Chiricheș, who returned to FCSB in the summer of 2023 after stints with Tottenham, Napoli, Sassuolo, and Cremonese, transitioned from a central defender to a defensive midfielder during his time at the club. His contributions were pivotal, aiding FCSB in clinching two Superliga titles, though he faced frequent criticism from club owner Gigi Becali.
Raul Rusescu Comments on Vlad Chiricheș’s Situation at FCSB
“I have reliable sources that indicate the official departure will happen soon. I am not privy to internal discussions or what was said behind closed doors, but I know something is in the works, though I can’t specify when. He deserves a fitting farewell as he has been an important player for this club, and I hope he will be treated accordingly,” Rusescu was quoted as saying.
Chiricheș’s last appearance for FCSB was in a 3-2 away victory against Farul, where he played for 77 minutes. At that time, the team’s coach Mirel Rădoi had already come under fire from Becali for including Chiricheș in the starting lineup, despite Becali’s previous statements that the veteran player was no longer suited for the team.
During that match, Chiricheș sustained an injury and subsequently learned that he would miss the remainder of the season, which reportedly pleased Becali, who stated that he was glad to be rid of him.
Vlad Chiricheș’s contract with FCSB officially ends on June 30, and the former Romanian international has yet to decide whether he will continue his playing career.
