Ana Seabra Takes Helm at Newly Promoted CSM Iași in Romania

Ana Seabra, a 48-year-old Portuguese coach, is heading to Romania to take charge of CSM Iași 2020, a team recently promoted to Liga Florilor this season. This decision has raised eyebrows as Seabra just achieved success with Guardes, securing a European trophy.
Seabra led Guardes to triumph in the EHF European Cup this year, defeating Michalovce in the final. This move was first reported by the Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Ana Seabra: A Top Coach in Iași
Although her departure from Guardes was expected, reports indicate that CSM Iași managed to entice her to join despite her initial agreement with Aula Valladolid. The relegation of Valladolid opened the door for Seabra to explore other opportunities.
The Portuguese press has mentioned that her primary objective at CSM Iași is to ensure the team’s survival in Liga Florilor, recognized as one of the strongest leagues. The club aims to remain competitive in this elite handball league that includes eight top-quality teams. Notably, two clubs reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and one participated in the Final Four of the competition.
While the focus is on survival, Ana Seabra will have access to a roster featuring several international and high-caliber players, reflecting the Romanian league’s economic capacity to attract global talent. Thus, a squad built for maintaining status in Romania likely possesses the potential to vie for top positions in Spain, as reported by A Bola.
