The news says that it has the necessary votes for the investiture: “I have assurances that we will have more than 240” / The appointed Prime Minister, three TV appearances one after the other

Adrian Veștea declared on Sunday evening, in his first appearance on TV as designated prime minister, that “calculations have been made” that show that the necessary votes for the investiture are secured.
- The prime minister-designate made this statement to Euronews. Two more TV appearances follow: on Antena 3 (from 20.00) and RomâniaTV (from 21.00).
“From what I understand, the number of parliamentarians today ensures the possibility of passing this Government. Calculations have been made and I am assured that we will have more than 240 votes”, said Adrian Veștea. He did not give details about the political support he relies on, but he also talked about “speculation that the PNL will break up”.
“I think we will reach maturity and we will all understand that to have the responsibility, to have a liberal prime minister, who has been in this party for 30 years, who has held various positions over time, was part of the Romanian Government, knows what the milestones in the PNRR mean, knows what the budget deficit means. I assure you that he should receive all these things. I think that tomorrow, during the meeting that we will have, it is important to remain a team united”, Adrian Veștea also said.
“I will have the same government program as Ilie Bolojan”
Asked about the criticism leveled by PNL leaders after his appointment, including Ilie Bolojan, Vestea rejected the idea that he had betrayed the party and argued that he would continue the direction set by the liberals.
“From the moment I had discussions with the President of Romania, I had the option of continuing to keep the same government program, the program assumed by Ilie Bolojan, by the PNL, by the other parties in the coalition. I will not change a single comma. I want the same government program to remain, and I want it to remain the same government program that Ilie Bolojan had (…) that program was agreed by everyone, it is starting to bear fruit and must be preserved”, he said he.
What does he say about the collaboration with PSD
Regarding the collaboration with the PSD, he insisted on the need to end the interim period and to form a government with full powers as quickly as possible. “40 days of the interim period have passed. Think about what it means for a person who does not have a mandate today, what authority he has in front of civil servants. I think we should make an assessment, first of all, on the arithmetic in the parliament. Without having a solid majority… you saw the Tomac government (…) Everyone wanted a political government. We must build a political government. The country must be governed. It has a number of problems that must be solved as soon as possible,” said Vestea.
Why didn't he inform his PNL colleagues
Asked why he didn't inform his PNL colleagues before the appointment, Adrian Veștea said: “I didn't have the opportunity to go to the meeting because I had to travel to Budapest and I had a series of problems. I didn't even have the necessary information. This decision was taken by the president of Romania.”
The news, tour of the televisions on the day of the designation
Adrian Veștea was appointed prime minister on Sunday morning. The announcement made by Nicușor Dan took place at 9 o'clock and caused an earthquake in the PNL.
The acting president of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, stated that the designation was not discussed in the leadership of the formation and accused the president of an “obvious attempt to break the PNL”.
Meanwhile, USR and UDMR scheduled meetings to decide whether or not to support Adrian Veștea. There is also a meeting at the PNL, but on Monday evening.
And while the parliamentary parties are debating and discussing in the meetings, Adrian Veștea is making the rounds of the news televisions. He has three appearances tonight: on Euronews (7:00 p.m.), on Antena3 (8:00 p.m.) and on RomâniaTV (9:00 p.m.).
