Atalanta officially presented Maurizio Sarri (67 years old) as the team's new head coach. The team from Bergamo finished the previous Serie A season in 7th place, having previously participated in the Champions League.

Details of the contract have not been disclosed, but it is speculated that the deal will run until the summer of 2029, with a salary of €3.5 million per season.

Maurizio Sarri, officially presented at Atalanta

Maurizio Sarri has been officially introduced as the new head coach of Atalanta. For the Italian technician, the formation in Bergamo will be the fifth in Serie A that he will prepare.

Previously, Sarri coached Empoli, Napoli, Juventus and Lazio, the latter in two spells. Domestically, Sarri's biggest success is the Serie A title he won with Juventus in the 2019-2020 season.

Maurizio Sarri claimed the biggest trophy of his career in his only season outside Italy when he led Chelsea to the Europa League triumph in 2018-19.

In the previous season, Maurizio Sarri coached Lazio, with whom they ended the season in 9th place in Serie A. However, Lazio reached the final of the Coppa Italia, but lost 0-2 to Cristi Chivu's Inter.

Maurizio Sarri started his coaching career in 1990 in the lower leagues of Italy. Later, the Italian technician also coached Faellese, Cavriglia, Antella, Valdema, Tegoleto, Sansovino, Sangiovannese, Pescara, Arezzo, Avellino, Verona, Perugia, Grosseto, Alessandria, Sorrento, Empoli, Napoli, Chelsea, Juventus and Lazio in two terms.

Maurizio Sarri will replace Raffaele Palladino (42 years old) at Atalanta, who mutually terminated his contract until 2027.

Under Palladino's command, Atalanta finished the previous Serie A season only in 7th place, and the Bergamo outfit will play in the Conference League qualifiers. Two years ago, Atalanta won the Europa League, after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final.
