The Finnish government, together with trade unions and employers' organizations, has developed recommendations for businesses in the event of a threat from drones. The document also recommends that workers be paid if they are unable to work due to a public health warning. This is stated in a joint recommendation published on June 12 on the government website.
The document was prepared by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Social Affairs and Health, as well as the Ministry of the Interior of Finland.
Experts assess the situation in such a way that combat drones may fly into Finnish territory from time to time. In such cases, emergency services may issue emergency warnings and urge people to remain indoors.
Employment Minister Mathias Marttinen stressed that workers should not put themselves in danger for fear of losing their earnings. That is why the parties recommended that employers pay wages to employees who are unable to perform their duties due to official restrictions related to the drone threat.
At the same time, the document notes that certain critical areas of activity cannot be completely stopped during a warning, even if this poses a threat to human life or health.
Finnish authorities also called on employers and workers to agree in advance on what to do in the event of a UAV threat. Recommendations may be revised depending on the development of the situation.
