Zoltan Iasko (61 years old), the current sporting director of Farului, wants to resign from his position and leave the club currently patronized by Gheorghe Popescu. The former goalkeeper's decision is motivated by the desire to spend more time with his family, established in Cluj.

Important changes are taking place in the Superliga. Not just in terms of player transfers, but also at an executive level.

According to GSP.RO information, confirmed by important people from the Farul club, Zoltan Iasko, the sports director of the “sailors”, is to resign from his position.

The decision comes at a tense moment for Farul. After the team avoided relegation following the “double” tie with Chindia Târgoviște, Iasko reportedly decided to resign for personal reasons, unrelated to the club's current situation.

Last-minute resignation from Farul, Zoltan Iasko leaves Constanța

“Zoli has been living in Constanța for so many years, far from his family, wife and loved ones. He commutes weekly to get to Cluj and, as there are no direct flights from Constanța, he spends dozens of hours on the road. He decided that it was better for him, from a personal point of view, to give up”revealed important sources within the Lighthouse.

The one nicknamed “Zoli” is one of the trusted men of the current national team coach, Gheorghe Hagi.

Zoltan Iasko with Gică Hagi

A former goalkeeper, he played at FC Maramureș Baia Mare, Farul Constanța and FC Bihor Oradea.

The last team he played for was Cluj University, in 1999, whose shirt he wore for 13 seasons.

“Leave to be with family”

His friendship with Gică Hagi was formed during the Luceafărul period, where the two did their junior studies.

After giving up his career as a football player, he worked for a short period in the administrative management of the University of Cluj, then he also held the position of goalkeeping coach.

After Gheorghe Hagi started his coaching career, Zoltan Iasko followed him to all the teams he trained, to later become the sports director of Farului.

“His departure comes at a difficult time for the team, especially after we were one step away from League II. He has helped us enormously throughout Viitorul's history. It is his decision to leave to be with his family and we are grateful to him for everything he has done”also specified important people from the team on the seashore.

Recently, there have been discussions to convince Iasko to give up his resignation, but his decision seems to have been made a few months ago.

What does the lighthouse's organizational chart look like today?

  • Gheorghe Popescu – majority shareholder and chairman
  • Cristian Bivolaru – general manager
  • Tiberius Curt – VICE
  • Christian Parisa – executive director

The organizational head of the team also leaves

According to the GSP information, confirmed by sources within the club, Farul will part with another important man, starting with the new Superliga season. It is about Constantin Stamate, director of competition organization and licensing.

Basically, he was the official representative of the club in the relationship with the Professional Football League and the Romanian Football Federation, but also the person who coordinated, from one end to the other, the organization of the matches.

Hagi's trusted man is leaving Farul for good:

Constantin Stamate, director of competition organization and licensing

Stamate managed everything related to the preparation of a game, from the discussions with the Gendarmerie, the Police and the other authorities involved, to all the logistical aspects necessary to carry out the Super League games.

In the case of Constantin Stamate, the departure is not the result of a resignation, but of retirement. However, it is very possible that he will continue his activity in Romanian football. The fact is that parting with the Lighthouse is already a final decision.
