Sorana Cîrstea (36 years old, #18 WTA) announced that she is withdrawing from the Berlin and Bad Homburg tournaments due to an injury sustained during the Queen's tournament.
Sorana Cârstea was eliminated in the second round at Queen's by Emma Răducanu (23 years old, #42 WTA), score 4-6, 2-6. The announcement of the withdrawal from the two tournaments was made through social networks. Sorana Cîrstea announced that she will, however, be present at Wimbledon, the Grand Slam on grass.

“Unfortunately, due to a small injury I suffered this week, I have to withdraw from Berlin and Bad Homburg. I was looking forward to my time in Germany, but my body needs a little time to recover. See you all back at Wimbledon”, was the message of Sorana Cîrstea on social networks.

Sorana Cîrstea had an incredible season on clay. In Madrid she was quickly eliminated by Coco Gauff, but in Rome she reached the semi-finals, when she was also eliminated by Gauff. At Roland Garros, grand slam on clay, she reached the quarterfinals, where she was eliminated by Mirra Andreeva. Sorana Cîrstea equaled her best career performance at a Grand Slam.
She played only two matches on grass: she passed in the first round at Queen's de Inglis in three sets, and then she was eliminated by Emma Răducanu in the second round of the tournament.
