A 66-year-old man, the spiritual leader of a religious group in Cluj County, was arrested for crimes of rape and sexual assault on minors between the ages of 15 and 18, taking advantage of the position of trust he had in front of them, the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) informed on Wednesday evening, writes Agerpres.
The man's arrest was the result of home searches that took place on Wednesday at the man's properties, located in the city of Huedin and the commune of Călățele.
“On June 10th, the policemen from the Cluj County Police Inspectorate – Criminal Investigation Service ordered the detention of a 66-year-old man, investigated for the crimes of rape and sexual assault. In fact, on June 10th, the policemen from the Criminal Investigations Service executed two home search warrants, at properties located in the city of Huedin and the commune of Călățele, both belonging to the person in question. From the investigations carried out so far, it has emerged that, during 2023, taking advantage of the position of spiritual leader within a religious group that he coordinated and the trust that the injured persons had in him, the 66-year-old man, from the Călățele commune, would have committed acts of a sexual nature on a 17-year-old girl, without her consent. shows in the information sent by IPJ Cluj.
Also, according to the cited source, in the period 2023-2024, he would have sexually assaulted three other young women between the ages of 15 and 18, through sexual touches, the acts being committed in the context of religious meetings organized at his home.
Following the administration of the evidence, the police ordered the measure of detention for 24 hours, and the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Huedin Court formulated a proposal for preventive arrest. The proposal was accepted by the rights and liberties judge of the Huedin Court and the preventive arrest of the man was ordered for a period of 30 days.
