Krasnoyarsk wrestlers won two medals at the World University Championships

Athletes from the Krasnoyarsk Territory won two medals at the FISU 2026 World Student Wrestling Championships, the regional Ministry of Sports reported.

The competition took place in Brazil. About 1,500 athletes from 50 countries took part in them. Yura Airapetyan, a student of the Krasnoyarsk Olympic Reserve Sports School in freestyle wrestling, became a silver medalist in the weight category up to 70 kg. In the final, he lost to an athlete from Iran, Mohammad Bakhshishishirkolai. Denis Kodakov Gil from Spain took bronze in this category.

Another medal was brought to the Krasnoyarsk Territory by Elena Dyachenko, an athlete from the Buvaysar Saitiev SShOR. She became the bronze medalist of the championship in the weight category up to 55 kg. The victory in this group was won by Mihaela Samoil from Moldova, Francesca Lo Greco from Spain received the silver medal.

Both Krasnoyarsk athletes are students of the Siberian Federal University.
