Not a single tick on the site: I erected a “fence” of 4 plants – I forgot about repellents for 5 years

Many summer residents spend thousands of rubles on anti-tick chemicals, but parasites continue to attack the area every summer. There are four aromatic plants that create a natural barrier.

Agronomist Ksenia Davydova shared that before planting such plants, up to 8 mites are found on the grass, a month after planting – only 2, and by the end of summer they practically disappear.

Don't waste money on useless means – it's better to plant living defense.

What is a natural barrier against ticks

Natural barrier is a system of specially selected plants that secrete essential oils and phytoncides that are not tolerated by ticks. They do not kill parasites, but create an invisible exclusion zone: ticks simply avoid the area.

4 plants to protect the area

Assess your area and plant these plants in the correct order.

Pyrethrum rosea (Persian chamomile) — effectively repels within a radius of 1–1.5 meters. Plant on the north and east sides every 2 meters. It blooms from June to September with beautiful pink and red inflorescences.

Wormwood – place on the south side, between trees, on poor soil. By June it grows up to 80 cm. Keep away from vegetable beds – it inhibits their growth.

Catnip – the most powerful fighter, scares away within a radius of 2–2.5 meters. Plant in groups of 2-3 bushes every 40-50 cm. Grows up to 70 cm, blooms from June to August, attracts bees.

Creeping thyme – spreads along the ground, growing by 20–25 cm per season. Plant along paths and between beds. It blooms pink from May to September and the leaves can be used as a seasoning.

How to create a protective barrier

Follow a scheme that has been proven in practice.

  1. Plant pyrethrum and wormwood around the perimeter of the site – they form an outer line of defense.
  2. Between them, plant catnip in groups of 2-3 plants every 40-50 cm. This is the main striking fist.
  3. Cover empty spaces with thyme, especially along paths and seating areas. With this arrangement, ticks do not find any loopholes.
  4. Do not use chemicals in parallel – it can scare away beneficial insects that pollinate plants.

Conclusion

Four plants – pyrethrum, wormwood, catnip and thyme – work as a hedge against ticks. They do not kill, but repel parasites for the season. Plant them once according to the plan, and you will forget about expensive chemicals and struggle every spring.

Personal experience

I also spent money on acaricides, but the ticks were still on the dog after a walk around the area. I read about this system and planted catnip along the fence and thyme along the paths. I noticed the effect after a month: over the summer I removed only two ticks from my clothes, and before there were 10.
