Nicușor Dan puts pressure on the parties before the vote to invest the Tomac Government: “Romanians care little about our debates”

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, made new statements on Wednesday, June 10, at the Cotroceni Palace, in the context of political negotiations for the formation of the future Government, emphasizing the need for dialogue between the parliamentary parties and their responsibility towards the national interest.
“I call for the responsibility of the political parties at this moment. The interest of the party is legitimate, but the interest of the country must always come first“, President Nicușor Dan said.
He rejected interpretations according to which his decision would have favored certain political formations, stating that his role is not to arbitrate competitions between parties, but to maintain Romania's strategic direction.
“It is not my mandate to give satisfaction to X or Y. My mandate is, first of all, to preserve the pro-Western direction of Romania and, secondly, to prevent a possible sudden economic fall that could affect every family”, declared the head of state.
Nicușor Dan also stated that the lack of dialogue between political parties is one of the main problems of the moment, which is why he decided to appoint a person capable of facilitating discussions between all parliamentary formations.
“I found that the parties no longer talk to each other, they no longer have a dialogue. I chose a person, the most suitable, to talk to everyone and bring them together to govern, given that no party has come up with an alternative solution”, the president also said.
He also criticized the orientation of the political class exclusively towards electoral calculations, including in the perspective of the 2028 elections, stressing that the citizens expect governance and stability first of all.
“Because, since I have been in politics, I see politicians who do nothing but calculate future elections. In the present case, the 2028 elections. I want to say that Romanians care little about our electoral debates and all our performances. Romanians want governance, and governance means responsibility. Until 2028, many important things will happen”. concluded the head of state.
