Ciucu, hard attack on Tomac: “Don't take us for fools”. Three “question marks” regarding the list of ministers

On Monday evening, Ciprian Ciucu addressed Prime Minister-designate Eugen Tomac, stating that he has “some pretty big question marks” related to the list of ministers proposed by him, which he describes as “stitched with phosphorescent white thread”.

The liberal mayor of the Capital wrote, on Monday evening, a message addressed directly to Eugen Tomac, in which he addresses three “question marks” regarding his proposals for the leadership positions of the ministries and the discussions he held today with PNL, USR and PSD.

“I am writing these lines to you after today's meeting as a sign of respect, so I will be direct. What you did not do today. I have some rather big question marks, because the list of ministers you presented to us today is sewn with white-phosphorescent thread”, Ciprian Ciucu began his message, published on his Facebook page.

“I think you had prior meetings with the PSD”

Ciprian Ciucu's “first question mark” refers to the order of today's meetings with the parties, where Eugen Tomac asked for support for his cabinet.

The first meeting of the appointed prime minister was with the National Liberal Party, but Ciucu questions this, since, he writes, some of Tomac's proposals for ministers “reflect exactly PSD proposals”.

“You told us today that you wanted to meet first with the PNL, then with the PSD. I don't believe this; that is, I believe that you had prior, hidden and unassumed meetings with the PSD. Why do I say this? I can't help but notice that the ministries assumed so far by the PSD reflect exactly PSD's proposals: Mr. Istudor for Agriculture, Mr. Masala for Transport… But the card failed me when you told us about Mr. Ionaș la M. Development. You have no way to explain to me the decision-making process, other than that you have given it to PSD! It seems that you have protected the ministries they want,” wrote the mayor.

“Your government will put us in their arms”

Without giving names, Ciprian Ciucu claimed that the list of ministers that Tomac presented to the party also includes members of the PNL, “without our support, they are there at your initiative”, which will cause the party led by Sorin Grindeanu to push “the narrative that yours is the PNL and USR government”.

“And I told you today what will happen: as the PSD has money and pays the press a lot, it will push the narrative that your government is the PNL and USR government. Two, three, four names with a history in the PNL will be used and your government will be put in our arms, without us being part of the process by which you were appointed to make the government. Fix the Ciolos scenario! PSD will attack you, and we, more sensibly, will not attack you. We have seen it before this film”, explained Ciucu.

“Please have decency and don't take us for fools”

Ciprian Ciucu's last “question mark” is related to the appointment of another technocrat prime minister, in case Eugen Tomac, together with the executive proposed by him, will not receive the investiture vote in Parliament.

“The scenario with that other “technical” prime minister who will be nominated in your place if you fail, relying on the fact that some parliamentarians do not want early elections for fear that they will no longer capture the Parliament. This shows me a clearly assumed strategy, designed specifically to exonerate the PSD from any responsibility”, writes the mayor.

“With all the respect I have for you, with all the admiration I have for Messrs. Papahagi, Burnete, Niculescu… Please, have the decency and don't take us for fools. PSD has already made this mistake! Show us a minimum of respect and don't insult our intelligence,” Ciucu explained.

The General Mayor also tells Eugen Tomac that “you should have discussed honestly with us” and that “trust is gained by telling the truth, by discussing openly”.

“We warned ahead of time that we would not accept red technicians, so… we shouldn't have,” concluded Ciucu.
