The patient, Martin, had been diagnosed with Scheuermann's disease, a condition of the intervertebral discs that causes severe curvature of the spine and persistent pain, according to TNLIVE.sk
Correcting this deformity led to a spectacular result. If before the operation it was 204 cm, after the intervention it reached 209 cm.
According to doctors, it is not an actual “growth”, but the result of straightening the spine, which allowed the recovery of centimeters lost due to curvature.
The intervention was carried out by a team coordinated by primary physician Juraj Popluhár. The representatives of the hospital emphasized that a multidisciplinary team contributed to the success of the operation: “from doctors and nurses to physiotherapists and other specialists“.
The medical unit stated that it constantly treats patients from all over the country, each case requiring “a individualized approach”.
After the successful operation, the doctors wished the patient a speedy recovery and “much health” for him and his family.
