Danish player Christian Eriksen (34) reacted on social media after he put his hand to his heart and collapsed on the pitch in the 65th minute of the friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine.
Christian Eriksen announced to his fans that he is fine and that he has arrived home after the shock experienced in Odense. Christian Eriksen fell on the pitch once more, in the match between Denmark and Finland at EURO 2020, held on June 12, 2021. That's when he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), which has now saved his life, according to the footballer.
Christian Eriksen's first reaction after the horror scenes in Odense: “I'm fine and I'm at home with my family”
“I want to let everyone know that I'm fine and I'm home with my family. As you can imagine, receiving a shock from the ICD has had a major impact on me and my family, but I want to assure everyone that it's a different situation than what happened in 2021. I'm fine and the recovery has already begun.
In addition to being grateful for the support and assistance I received from the players and the medical staff at the stadium, I am grateful to the doctors who have taken care of my heart over the years. Thanks to their expertise, the ICD device did exactly what it was supposed to do: protect me when I needed it.
At the moment I am focused on recovery, spending time with my family, going on holiday and playing football with my children”, was Christian Eriksen's message on his personal Instagram page.

He is currently registered at Wolfsburg, a team just relegated from the Bundesliga. He's still under contract until the summer of 2027, but it's possible that this alarming new episode could end his career prematurely.
