The incident took place on the night of Monday to Tuesday, in an abandoned building in Târgoviște, where the infectious diseases department of the County Hospital used to function.

According to the information presented by Pro TV, the young man had come from Ploiesti with several friends to explore the building. Arriving at the second floor, he would have been scared by the presence of two people sheltering in the building and jumped out the window.
“We were alerted around 1 am. A 19-year-old man had jumped from the 2nd floor. As they stated, they were on a ghost hunt”, said Claudiu Dumitrescu, medical director of the Dâmbovița Ambulance Service, for ProTV.
According to him, the victim suffered multiple traumas.
“The patient presented with polytrauma, a fracture of the pelvis and left lower limb, and a facial fracture“, the doctor also specified.
The young man was going to take the baccalaureate exam during this period.
The case brings back into focus the phenomenon of urban exploration, practiced by people who visit abandoned buildings, former factories, hospitals or other disused constructions.
The police draw attention to the fact that such activities may have legal consequences and may involve serious risks for the safety of the participants.
“Although urban exploration is practiced by many people, it can attract misdemeanor or criminal liability in certain situations. Before exploring such a place it is recommended to check the legal status of the property and obtain the consent of the owner“, said Cătălina Mocanu, spokesperson of the Prahova County Police Inspectorate, for ProTV.
Tourism and exploration experts warn that such buildings can hide many dangers, from damaged floors and unstable roofs to the risk of structural collapse.
