Belarus represents a danger factor not only for Ukraine, but also for NATO. The former head of special operations of the Central Intelligence Agency in Europe and Eurasia, Ralph Goff, stated this in an interview with Espreso, published on June 7.
According to him, NATO countries are closely monitoring the situation in Belarus.
“Take Lithuania, for example, a NATO country with very professional intelligence. The same goes for Estonia and Latvia. And also Sweden, Norway and, of course, Poland. The Baltic countries and Northern Europe have powerful and highly qualified intelligence services, and Poland is definitely not going to ignore what is happening in Belarus,” said the ex-CIA employee.
Speaking about Russia's war against Ukraine, he pointed out that in 2022, Western intelligence services “substantially overestimated the Russian army.” “But now there is a risk of another mistake – to underestimate it in the later stages of the war,” Goff emphasized.
The former CIA official also advised to be vigilant so that Russia does not take Ukraine by surprise with new types of weapons or new tactics.
