The detail from the official training gave Gică Hagi a goal, before the test with Wales

On Friday evening, in Mogoșoaia, the Romanian national team held the official training before the friendly match with Walesscheduled for Saturday, at the “Steaua” stadium, in Ghencea. Without the pressure of an official match, the atmosphere in the heart of the tricolors was a good one. The selector Gică Hagi focused especially on 10 players, most likely the starters for tomorrow night.

  • Romania – Wales, the second match with Hagi on the national team's bench since the return, will take place on June 6, from 20:45, at the Steaua stadium. The friendly will be liveTEXT on GSP.ro and broadcast on Prima TV

Before the actual start of the training, the players went out on the field and exchanged a few passes, while the technical staff sat in the shadows and held discussions.

Upon coming to the main field, the selector Gică Hagi went among the players, after which he took Florinel Coman and Denis Drăguș separately for discussions. The “King” was, as usual, very involved, gesticulating a lot, giving explanations, and the talks ended when his students were mobbed by the kids at the training for pictures and autographs.

As soon as the autograph session ended, in the foreground with the 40 winners of the Tymbark Junior Cup, Hagi gave a speech to all the footballers, and shortly after the warm-up started. The “King” stepped aside, along with “second” Jerry Gane, and carefully analyzed how his students were moving.

Gică Hagi focused on 10 players at the official training

The only footballer who trained separately on Friday night was Romania's champion with Craiova University, Vladimir Screciu, who did a few laps of the field, individually, while the rest of his teammates were grouped together to do short runs.

As soon as the passing games started, Hagi from the sideline became more involved and more vocal. His attention was most of the time only on a group of 10 players, most likely the starters, with whom he stayed the most.

He sometimes crossed over to the other camp, where the rest of the players were preparing, but the focus was on the people he probably wants to introduce into the “first 11” with Wales: Alex Dobre, Olimpiu Moruțan, Ștefan Baiaram, Andrei Coubiș, Andrei Burcă, Lissav Eissat, Tony Strata, David Matei, Nicolae Stanciu, Cătălin Cîrjan.

What Romania and Wales would look like:

  • Hindrich – Strata, A. Burcă, Coubiș, L. Eissat – Cîrjan, Stanciu, Moruțan – Baiaram, D. Matei – Dobre

The objective was to get to know each other. In Georgia I think we played a pretty good game, the attitude was good, the pace was the same, everyone gave their best. We planned to make a lot of changes. We know we are facing a very aggressive team, we have to be very careful about that.

When they have the ball they like to build, it's going to be a good game, I hope the crowd that comes will enjoy a win and football. We will play with a different team, totally new. Those who played less in Georgia will also be. We released a group of players who played more. We had 3 players who are not 100 percent, we stopped the ones who are.
