What wealth does the designated prime minister, Eugen Tomac, have

MEP Eugen Tomac, whom President Nicușor Dan appointed prime minister on Thursday evening, does not have any homes in Romania listed in his asset declaration, but he owns two properties in Belgium. In the election campaign, Tomac lent his party, PMP, half a million lei.

Tomac's latest wealth declaration is filed in June 2024.

Member of the European Parliament for the second term and honorary advisor for the relationship with Romanians everywhere of Nicușor Dan, Eugen Tomac, 45 years old, owns two urban plots, in the town of 23 August in Constanța county (1,300 m2), respectively near the Bicazului Gorge, in the village of Bârnadu from Neamţ (3,886 m2).

Together with his wife, Diana Postică, Eugen Tomac also owns two homes in Belgium: an apartment bought in Brussels (95 m2) in 2021 and a house in Charleroi (353 m2), purchased in 2023. He also has two cars in the asset declaration: an Audi Q5 from 2016 and a Dacia Sandero from 2020.

Also, the designated prime minister has approximately 130,000 euros, contributions to investment funds or bank deposits, in several bank accounts, as well as approximately 25,000 dollars worth of cryptocurrencies. He has debts of 50,000 euros to two natural persons, respectively credits of almost 300,000 euros, contracted with two banks in the years 2021 and 2023.

He lent his party, PMP, 500,000 lei in the 2024 election campaign. Eugen Tomac leads PMP, a party that was founded by Traian Băsescu and which currently has no MPs. In the December 2024 elections, PMP ran alongside Forța Dreptei, but the joint list registered well below the electoral threshold of 5%.

In the 2024 wealth declaration, submitted for the previous fiscal year, Tomac declared annual income of 93,863 euros from the MEP salary.
