Artificial intelligence is fueling the wealth explosion: the number of millionaires in the world has reached a record level

The number of people with fortunes of more than one million dollars reached a historic high of 25.3 million globally in 2025, amid the investment boom generated by the development of artificial intelligence. Investor enthusiasm for AI technologies and the semiconductor industry has fueled strong gains in financial markets and contributed to the accumulation of unprecedented fortunes, according to a report by consulting firm Capgemini, Bloomberg reports.

Within a single year, the millionaires' club expanded by almost two million people. At the same time, the total value of assets held by them increased by 8.7%, to a record level of 98.3 trillion dollars.

The United States remains the main driver of this expansion of wealth. According to the report, the US economy generated 736,000 new millionaires in a single year, bringing the total number of people with fortunes above one million dollars to 8.7 million.

The development confirms the dominant position of the US in the global economy and financial markets. Americans continue to occupy most of the places in the rankings of the richest people in the world, although representatives of other countries are also constantly found in the international charts.

The authors of the report identify as the main factor of this spectacular growth the accelerated appreciation of the shares of companies involved in the development of artificial intelligence and in the production of microchips. Huge demand for the technology infrastructure needed for new AI applications has boosted stock values and brought significant gains to investors.

Strong growth was also recorded in the Asia-Pacific region, where Japan and China were the main markets benefiting from the growing interest in advanced technologies and digitization.

The fastest wealth accumulation, however, has been seen among ultra-wealthy investors, those with more than $30 million in assets. This category increased its wealth at a higher rate than the rest of the millionaires and reached, in turn, a record level.

Analysts estimate that the trend could continue in the coming years. Interest in artificial intelligence remains extremely high, and the market is waiting for a number of major IPOs of companies specializing in the development of AI technologies.

The outlook is also supported by massive investments announced by major technology companies. Spending on the development of artificial intelligence is expected to reach unprecedented levels, and the total value of these investments could reach hundreds of billions of dollars worldwide.

For investors, artificial intelligence is no longer just a technological promise, but one of the most profitable engines of economic and financial growth today. And if the current pace holds, the AI industry could continue to produce new millionaires and billionaires at an unprecedented rate.
