“During the chase, the offender moved at high speed along city streets, while ignoring prohibiting traffic lights, thereby creating a real threat to others. To suppress illegal actions, law enforcement officers were forced to use their service weapons: after two warning shots into the air, inspectors fired several aimed shots at the wheels of the reckless driver’s car. As a result, the pursued foreign car stopped, and the driver surrendered to the officers,” said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Toyota was driven by a 21-year-old drunk local resident. The breathalyzer showed 0.530 mg/l of ethyl alcohol in his exhaled air. When checking the databases, it turned out that the young man had previously been deprived of his driver’s license for drunk driving.

As a result of the investigation, the police drew up 34 reports against him on various administrative charges, 29 of which were for driving through a red light. In addition, he became involved in a criminal case for repeated driving while intoxicated (Part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). And the car was seized and placed in a special parking lot.
