According to the press service of the Australian government, the Australian army will collaborate with this multinational mission to train Ukrainian soldiers closer to the borders of Ukraine, which would allow, according to the authorities in Canberra, a better adaptation to the operational needs on the front.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles confirmed the involvement of the Australian Armed Forces in the new phase of training, which would begin in mid-2026.

This decision comes in continuation of the support offered through Operation Kudu, a program launched in January 2023, according to dialogue.

As part of this operation, the Australian military has already trained more than 3,600 Ukrainian soldiers by May 2026, including through activities conducted in the United Kingdom under the Interflex training program.

In addition to military training, Australia has provided Ukraine with military aid totaling approximately $1.5 billion, reinforcing its support for Kiev in the context of the war with Russia.
