The unprecedented humiliation of the Romanian army. What's next?

Few words remain to describe the exceptional seriousness of the declaration as a suspect by the DNA of the highest ranking member of the Romanian Army, army general (four stars) Gheorghiță Vlad, Chief of the Defense Staff, at the same time the president of the Joint Committee of the Chiefs of Staff, the highest professional military authority in the Romanian Armed Forces.
General Gheorghiță Vlad is a suspect in a DNA file
It should be recalled what were the responsibilities of the one now accused of usurping official qualities and favoritism in favor of a comrade (and this general with many stars, obviously in the leadership of MaPN). Here it is, according to Law no. 346 of July 21, 2026 of the General Staff, at the head of which still, at this time, is the highest rank in office of the Romanian Army:
command of the forces;
organization;
operational planning and management;
gradual increase in training level;
mobilization
the management of assembled operations;
troop training;
basic and specialized training of active and reserve military personnel;
individual career management of military personnel;
endowment planning;
standardization in the military field;
implementation of the C4ISR system, logistics and infrastructure;
the development of international relations
religious assistance within MApN
signing technical agreements with the armed forces of other states;
promoting military culture and civic education values
I mean everything.
In this context, the blame brought to that man is obviously an unprecedented shame for the Romanian Army, this precisely when our political authorities naturally put all imaginable spotlights on the episode of the crashed drone in Galați. And, just as normal, according to the rules generally accepted in such situations, depending on the seriousness of the situation, a few characters are entitled to speak on behalf of the Romanian nation who are credited with the responsibility of taking the necessary measures to make the national priorities known and respected: the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of National Defense and the Chief of the Defense Staff. The latter has a unique position from the perspective that, nationally and internationally, it is credited with providing the highest level national expertise on the basis of which the country argues its positions in relation to allies or enemies.
The man who is now officially announced as a suspect by the DNA has his credibility nullified, dynamited or, at best, deeply damaged, and consequently his ability to provide direct assessments to external partners.
Now reverse the equation and think how Romania's external partners, to whom we requested emergency help, are now reading a very recent statement by General Gheorghiță Vlad, who gave details of the urgent contacts he had with the NATO leadership:
“This morning I spoke with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus G. Grynkewich, and yesterday I also spoke with the Commander of the Allied Ground Forces, General Christopher T. Donahue. I also sent a message to all defense chiefs in NATO states. We analyzed together the situation generated by the attacks carried out in the proximity of Romania's borders and the necessary measures to strengthen the surveillance, warning and reaction capacity on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance“.
The situation of the Romanian general must be clarified very quickly because, clearly, it is no longer just about his exceptional career of multiple degrees and awards. Here, Romania's ability to act on channels that are so clean and safe, at least on this channel, is called into question, so that our enemies, some very close and increasingly aggressive, cannot start, on this basis, a counter-attack and hostile propaganda action.
Who has the authority to decide what comes next?
