Farul was saved at the dam and will continue to play in the Superliga next season. After ensuring their retention in the first league, the officials from Constanta decided to end the collaboration with Flavius Stoican, a coach who did not win a single match out of the seven played on the bench of the “sailors”.
Ioan Ovidiu Sabău signs with Farul for two years
If there is an option for Stoican to take over a League 2 team, Ioan Ovidiu Sabău will be officially announced on the bench of Farului in the coming days. The technician was also the first option in March, when GSP.RO wrote about the possibility of his arrival.

“We are on the last hundred meters with Sabău! He is a coach we wanted and who we hope will help us in the new Superliga season. He comes with an open heart to us and we want to perform together. There are still a few details to put in place and everything will be ready”, the officials from Constanta revealed to Gazeta Sporturilor.
The people from Golazo also wrote about the arrival of Ioan Ovidiu Sabău, again GSP information indicates that he will have a salary of 25,000 euros per month and the contract will last for two years. Depending on the performances achieved and the objectives met, Sabău would also receive some bonuses that will be included in the agreement with Farul.

As a coach, Ioan Ovidiu Sabău trained U Cluj, Gaz Metan Mediaș, Gloria Bistrița, FC Timișoara, ASA Târgu Mureș and Rapid. Sabău left U Cluj in October 2025, after submitting his resignation following the failure suffered on home soil against FC Botoșani, score 0-2.
The reunion of the team under Sabău's command is scheduled for June 14. On June 15, the medical visit will take place, followed by the start of preparations for the new Superleague season, most likely at the Ovidiu base.
