Pep Guardiola (55) is one of the most wanted names on the coaching market after leaving Manchester City, but the Spaniard seems determined to take a break from football.
According to the British publication The Mirror, David Beckham tried to convince him to take over the technical bench of Inter Miami, but the answer received was not what was expected.
David Beckham wanted him at Inter Miami
After the departure of Javier Mascherano, the management of the American club was in no hurry to appoint a new coach. According to the quoted source, Beckham has identified Guardiola as his main target and has delayed making a decision precisely to see if he can convince the former Manchester City manager to accept the challenge of MLS.
The move would have represented one of the most spectacular in the history of the North American championship and would have meant a new collaboration between Guardiola and Lionel Messi, after the years spent together at Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi were together in the first team of the FC Barcelona club for 4 seasons, between 2008-2012.

Guardiola wants a sabbatical
However, the Spaniard's plans are different. According to reports in England, Guardiola does not intend to accept any offers in this period and wants to stay away from the bench for a year.
The technician wants to spend more time with his family, recharge after an extremely intense decade at Manchester City and watch the upcoming World Cup without the pressure of a new project.
Sources close to the coach claim that he does not even intend to attend this summer's final tournament, although Inter Miami officials hoped to be able to speak with him there.
Pep Guardiola is thinking about a national team
At the same time, the former coach of Barcelona and Bayern Munich would have confessed to those close to him that the next step in his career could be at the national team level.
Its availability did not go unnoticed in England either. After the departure of Gareth Southgate in 2024, the officials of the English Federation analyzed the possibility of installing Guardiola on the bench of the national team, but the negotiations did not reach a concrete result.
Arriving at the Etihad in the summer of 2016, Guardiola completely changed the history of Manchester City. Under his command, the English club captured the first ever UEFA Champions League trophy and became the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles.
