Harry Kane (32 years old), his striker Bayern Munich and the captain of the England national team, spoke about his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or in an interview given to the French publication L'Equipe, quoted by sportal.bg.

After an impressive season in which he scored 61 of goals in 51 games for Bayern, Kane believes he is among the main contenders for football's most prestigious individual award.

Harry Kane hopes to win Ballon d'Or: 'I'll be among the favourites'

“I'll definitely be among the favourites. With the trophies we've won this season and the number of goals scored, I'll be in the running.

Furthermore, if England win the World Cup, you can imagine that the award will go to an English player, although the result of the Champions League final must also be taken into account.

When you look at the current favorites for the Ballon d'Or, there are players who have reached the Champions League final, myself included. I saw that the ceremony will take place in London. Maybe this is a good sign for me. Winning the award in my hometown would make it even more special,” Kane said.

The England striker also spoke about his exceptional season from a statistical point of view.

“61 goals is quite an incredible number. My previous record in a single season at one club was 44 goals, and when you break 60 goals you're in a league that only Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have reached so far.

Back then, their stats seemed truly untouchable to me”, said the top of Bayern.

Kane also commented on winning the “Golden Boot”, a trophy he obtained for the second time in his career.

“It's a matter of pride, especially considering that, in my opinion, only Ronaldo and Messi have won this award more than twice. Yes, I know the statistics of the great strikers past and present, because I like to use these kind of indicators as motivation.

Having said that, with an award like the «Golden Ice», it is important to remember that none of this would have been possible without my colleagues and all the people who help me every day. A lot of my success is down to them,” Harry Kane concluded.
