The write-off of freight cars by age in Ukraine was sold by the Russian Federation in order to support its “Uralvagonzavod”.
The order on the maximum period of operation of wagons in Ukraine was aggressively implemented by supporters of the Russian Federation even before the war in order to support the Russian “Uralvagonzavod”, which, in addition to wagons, also produced tanks, says the president of “Ukrmetalurgprom” Oleksandr Kalenkov.
“As a result, several allied countries of the Russian Federation began to write off wagons based on their age, but this is not the case in any developed country. Why was this done? Because the only ones who benefit from this are either manufacturers or those who bought new wagons and want to gain competitive advantages in the market in this way,” explained Kalenkov.
At the same time, no one will benefit from the scrapping of wagons – because the wagons will be scrapped, and the consequence of such a policy will be a shortage of rolling stock, an increase in the cost of logistics for business, and then an increase in prices for all Ukrainian consumers.
