The famous Dagestan stone may rise in price by 200%. This is the forecast of the management of the oldest limestone-shell rock mining plant in Derbent. The Ministry of Natural Resources canceled the enterprise's license. Locals are sure: they want to give the land for the construction of high-rise buildings.
The decision of the Ministry of Food came to the PC DKSM at the end of May. Official reason: too noisy, residents unhappy. They included an examination with sound measurements. Work in the quarry was prohibited.
The plant carried out its own examination in a state laboratory. Conclusion: no violations. Local residents also say that the noise does not bother them. And they even wrote to the head of the republic.
The leadership of the DCSM is confident: it’s all about the land. They want to give it to local developers. The territory is just two kilometers from the Caspian Sea. The flow of tourists to Dagestan has increased. Prices for square meters have risen – somewhere up to 200k. So businessmen are racing to grab plots. According to the general director of the enterprise, the project for the future residential complex is already ready.
The plant calculated that if the quarry was closed, 70 people would be left without work, and the price of stone would rise – from one thousand rubles to three or four per square meter. Production will be reduced by 50%.
In the republic itself, 30% of houses were built from Dagestan stone. There is also demand in Moscow – they order it for the construction of cottages and dachas.
Now the plant is trying to challenge the decision of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Claim in court.
