About a third of working Russians would like to receive wages weekly, while in fact most employers pay money twice a month. This is evidenced by survey data VTBheld on the eve of SPIEF-2026.
According to the results of the study*, more than half of Siberians (52%) receive salaries twice a month, every fifth – once a month. Only 5% of respondents receive weekly payments, another 4% receive payments daily. However, as the survey showed VTBmany would like to receive salaries more often than they do now. About a third of respondents – once a week, almost every tenth – daily, 5% – based on the work performed.
Russians cited better management of everyday expenses and increased financial stability as the main reason for wanting to receive money they actually earned with greater frequency. Half of those surveyed by the bank also noted that the frequency of payments affects their productivity and motivation at work.
“Russians’ request for more frequent salary payments is a rational response to the organization of everyday finances. Expenses arise every day, and payments occur mostly once every month or two. Synchronization of these two schedules allows a person to better plan a budget without cash gaps,” commented Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Business Product Department VTB Alexey Okhorzin.
*The study was conducted in May and covered 1.5 thousand respondents aged 18–65 throughout Russia in cities with a population of 100 thousand or more.
