“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the departure of Sanda Țăranu, one of the most loved and respected personalities of Romanian Television,” her family told the News Office.

“Today we do not say goodbye to a setting star, because her star will never set. She will continue to shine through her memory, through the model of professionalism she provided and through the elegance that inspired so many generations. Her light will endure in gratitude, respect and immortality,” said the journalist's family.

The funeral will take place on Monday, from 11 a.m., and those who wish to pay their last respects and say goodbye can do so from Saturday, from 3 p.m., at the Saint Gheorghe Capra Orthodox Church, Pantelimon Street no. 131, according to the announcement made by the family.

A decades-long career in Romanian Television

Sanda Țăranu worked in TVR between 1963 and 1998, presenting the Telejournal, special programs, variety shows and numerous important events for public television.

He continued to collaborate with Romanian Television even after retiring from the cameras, being a narrator for “Teleenciclopedia”, translator and producer of the show “A smile for the third age”.

The last years of her life were marked by the loss of her husband, who she said always brought her books, articles and poems to read.

“We were always with each other, for each other, and I got used to it so much that I feel it even now and I have the feeling that it is next to me. I think this is also the reason why I don't suffer from loneliness”, the journalist said.
