There was also disappointment among the more than 11,000 Rayo supporters away in Leipzig, but even so, they stuck close to the team and continued to show their support by displaying a banner on the lawn.

On this, the message “I have never known a greater victory than to be with you in defeat“.

coach Inigo Perez expressed his gratitude to the supporters and the local community:

“There are no words to say thank you. These are moments that we now have to go through. If we have learned anything from all that “rayismo” means, it is the acceptance of suffering. It is our essence. We will overcome this and move forward. I am very proud of the players, the supporters, the whole neighborhood.”

He also said that the supporters' support “is the main engine that makes Rayo survive and live this dream. For them we give our souls when we go out on the field. We have always maintained our balance in the face of triumph and defeat. But today, it is impossible to remain unmoved.”

“The disappointment is huge after losing a final, especially because of the effort put in by every single person who made the trip here. All we wanted most was to be able to give them a win and a title. It wasn't to be, but it's been a great journey and they've always been there for us.

I want to thank all the supporters. We are very sad and heartbroken. We hope to reach another final soon and give them what they deserve”, the goalkeeper also said Augusto Battle.
