A young man who was threatening to jump from the roof of a block of flats lost his balance and fell into the void. His condition is critical

Policemen, gendarmes and representatives of ISU Hunedoara intervened on Thursday, after they were informed that a 21-year-old man climbed onto the roof of a disused block of flats in Deva and threatened to throw himself.

The team of negotiators talked with him for about an hour, to convince him to give up this gesture, but at one point the man lost his balance and fell into the void.

“Today around 09:30, the Police of the Municipality of Deva were requested to intervene in the case of a young man who was climbing on the roof of a disused building in the municipality of Deva, threatening to end his days. Intervention teams from the Police, Gendarmerie and the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene, including the negotiating team of IPJ Hunedoara who held discussions with the man through specific techniques of negotiation to make him give up his gesture“, the Hunedoara County Police Inspectorate sent on Thursday.

According to the police, after about an hour of intervention, the man, who was on the edge of the roof, lost his balance and fell into the void, being picked up by an ambulance crew, in serious condition, and transported to the Deva County Hospital for specialized care.

The police are continuing the investigation in this case, to determine the causes and circumstances that led the man to climb on the roof of the building.
