The complete guide for June 1 in Bucharest: where to go out with the kids. From free festivals in parks, to airplane flights and vintage trains

June 1 turns Bucharest into a city dedicated to children, with outdoor festivals, educational activities, shows and interactive experiences. Although the number of events is not as large as in previous years, there is still a large range from which parents and – especially – children can choose. From 2016 onwards, June 1 is a national holiday.

One of the biggest events is 1uniFEST, considered the biggest play festival for children in Bucharest. The event, which has already become a tradition, takes place in Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park, in sector 3, and brings together hundreds of free activities: creative workshops, games, theater performances, magic, dance, contests, sports areas and film screenings. The atmosphere is one of an urban festival, with activities carried out throughout the day, in a format dedicated to families.
Another important point is the extensive program organized by the City Hall of Sector 1 Bucharest, under the concept “Animated Sector 1”, held between May 30 and June 1, 2026 in several locations in the city.

The program includes sports activities, educational workshops, performances, games, film screenings and interactive activities.
At Bazilescu Park, the concept “City of Crafts” turns the space into an interactive trail where kids solve challenges in fields like robotics, math, art and music.
On Strada Copilului, the area becomes pedestrianized and hosts sports activities, games, creative workshops and experiences such as the Silent Disco. The program includes conferences and discussions with specialists in the field of education and psychology, sports demonstrations supported by FC Rapid, the possibility to play volleyball, basketball, chess, scrabble.
In Dorobanti, the program includes sports activities, outdoor cinema and community activities, and in Amzei Square the focus is on art and education, with workshops and performances.
At the town hall, children can participate in painting, robotics, VR and interactive activities workshops.
And the Town Hall of Sector 6 organizes an event dedicated to families, in Liniei Park. The space will be transformed into a lively area, with educational and recreational activities, workshops and games designed to bring the community together.

Shows for children in Bucharest from June 1
The Children's Opera House organizes an extensive festival with opera performances, musicals, ballet and interactive activities.
And at the National Children's Palace, “The Wizard of Oz” comes to life for the first time in a new staging by director Aurelian Horațiu Bîrcă, produced by the Ambasadorii Musical Theatre, and designed as a musical for the whole family.
The Bucharest Metropolitan Circus completes the program with acrobatics, artistic numbers and circus shows for the whole family.
June 1st special experiences
TAROM will organize the third edition of “Airplane, take me flying!”, with special flights for children, departing and arriving at Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest. The flights will last approximately 50 minutes.
On board a Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, the little ones will have the opportunity to visit the cockpit and understand how the on-board equipment works or what it means to fly an aircraft.
The price of a ticket is 50 euros for children between 3 and 12 years old and 70 euros for adults. They must be accompanied by an adult.
Children who are passionate about trains will also have a dedicated event. In Bucharest Nord station, CFR organizes “Discover the Railway World”. Children and their companions will have the opportunity to visit heritage trains, machinery and specific equipment, as well as the Royal Salon. Activities are free.

Therme beach, also open for children
On May 30 and 31, but also on June 1, children will have access to the Sands of Therme beach, where access is usually only allowed to those over 15 years old. An activity dedicated to the little ones will also be organized on the urban beach: The magic of soap bubbles. And in the Galaxy area, several workshops will be organized between 12:00 and 15:00.

And two malls have so far announced dedicated June 1 events.
AFI Cotroceni will turn into a play space called AFI FUNLAND, with free workshops, face painting, mascots, LEGO, bubble show, chess, arcades and interactive experiences. Children will be able to create superhero capes, participate in creative workshops and interact with animated characters.
And at Veranda Mall, the June 1 program includes musical performances, animation, creative workshops and free activities for 6 hours. The “Coloring and Animal World” event will feature beloved characters, mascots, games and shows for kids and families.
