Newborn microcontinent discovered between Canada and Greenland
Based on the analysis of seismic data, the researchers came to the conclusion that a new microcontinent is slowly growing in the Davis Strait, where the boundary of tectonic plates passes.
Its formation began “only” 118 million years ago. It has not yet completely separated from other fragments of the earth's crust and is deep underwater.
