Czech Jakub Mensik (20 years old, ranked 27th in the world) won the match of the tournament at Roland Garros in the second round of the competition on the Parisian clay, but the end of the marathon game found him breathless, collapsed on the court.
He prevailed on Wednesday afternoon against the Argentinian Mariano Navone (25 years old, world number 38), score 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (11), at the end of a game that lasted four hours and 41 minutes.
The match was extremely demanding and the finale found the winner exhausted after a crazy match in which he led twice, saved two match points and finally triumphed in the decider after a dramatic tiebreak in which he also had six match points before winning.

After the end of the match and qualifying for the third round at Roland Garros, he remained lying on the clay for about 10 minutes, needing medical attention.
He had cramps since the tiebreak of the deciding set, when he barely managed to serve to win. After the last point, of victory, he lay on the clay, exhausted and visibly affected after a match of almost five hours.
He could no longer go to the net to greet his opponent, the cramps became more and more intense, holding on to his leg, at the end of a game in which the heat also affected him.
An ice pack was brought to him from the staff, and doctors immediately intervened to provide him with medical care. Now he needs to recover quickly as a new match awaits him in the next round of the Grand Slam in Paris.
The next opponent will be the Australian Alex De Minaur (27 years old, 7th in the world), who simply went into the second round without playing, after the Belgian Alexander Blockx withdrew.
