In Krasnoyarsk, palm trees and thuja returned to the streets after wintering, the city hall reported.

In this city will be decorated with 255 exotic wood: 124 palm trees and 131 thuja. The trees will be exposed in 18 public spaces, including on theater square, on Mira Avenue, near the DK on May 1, the House of Friendship of Peoples “Rodina”, on the Fatherland Square, on the boulevard of V.V. Mayakovsky (stopping the Youth Theater).

Recall that for the first time the palm trees appeared in Krasnoyarsk in 2001 under the mayor of Petra Pimashkov. Then 141 palm trees and 56 thui were purchased. Due to cold winters, they cannot survive in the ground, so the trees were planted in special tubs.

The trees in greenhouses winter, where they are treated and formed by the crowns. In early summer, they are exposed to the street to adapt to city conditions, and then by cars they are transported around the city. Exotic trees became a kind of chip of summer landscaping of Krasnoyarsk. In 2024, the trees were updated – old ones, too high for transportation, put the palm trees in the city shopping center, and they bought them to replace 100 new young palm trees and 48 thui.
