Ilie Bolojan, message for Cristian Mungiu after winning the Palme d'Or at Cannes

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan congratulated the director Cristian Mungiu after the success at Cannes with the film “Fjord” and thanked him “for the image he carries forward about Romania”.
“Congratulations to Cristian Mungiu for the prize he won at the Cannes Film Festival. It's a success that speaks of talent, work and the way Romanian culture can reach the big international spaces,” Ilie Bolojan said in a message posted on his Facebook page.
The Prime Minister mentioned that “we are happy to see a Romanian filmmaker appreciated at the highest level and we thank him for the image he carries forward about Romania”.
Cristian Mungiu won Saturday evening, at the Cannes Film Festival, the prestigious Palme d'Or award for “Fjord”, the film that tells a story that took place in Norway, the history of a family of Romanian migrants.
Mungiu received the Palme d'Or award for the second time in his career. For the first time, Cristian Mungiu received the Palme d'Or in 2007, for the film “4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days”, a painful description of the story of “mandatory” births under Romanian communism.
With two Palme d'Or awards, Mungiu joins a select list of directors “double winners” at Cannes: Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Haneke or Ken Loach.
