Spanish champions Barcelona lost 3-1 at Valencia in the last leg of La Liga despite leading 1-0.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for the Calatans, after an hour of play, in his last game in the Blaugrana shirt. But instead of the goal motivating them and looking to increase it, the Pole's teammates fell prey to a relaxation that cost them all the points.
Hansi Flick thundered and flashed at the press conference
Guerra (min. 66), Rioja (71) and Rodriguez (90+7) set the final score, 3-1, one that totally disappointed coach Hansi Flick. Although the result had absolutely no bearing on the top-flight, with Barcelona already champions, the German coach was angry with his players and did not hide his disappointment at the press conference.
“We made some easy mistakes and they capitalized on them. We weren't 100 percent focused. It doesn't detract from the good season I've had, really, but I'm disappointed”, commented Flick in front of the journalists present in the room.
He also explained why he was so bothered by the lack of concentration of those he sent to the field. “Champions never stop being champions. That's the mentality I want to see in the players and I always want to see this mentality,” emphasized the German.
Hansi Flick: “I want one hundred percent commitment from everyone”
Furthermore, looking ahead to the next season, Flick drew attention: “The World Cup is an important event and I can understand that the players who will participate in the final tournament are focused there. But next season will be more difficult and I want everyone to be one hundred percent focused.
Now we can go to the World Cup or we can go on vacation and rest, but what matters is Barça, and when we come back we will continue our journey and I want a hundred percent commitment from everyone.”
