CSC Selimbar and CS Dinamo București met on Saturday morning, at the “Măgura” stadium in Cisnădie, in the return leg of the play-off in League 2. The Sibians prevailed with a score of 2-0 and thus ensure their presence in the next season of the second echelon, while the “dogs” prepared by Ionel Dănciulescu are relegated to League 3 after only one season spent in League 2.

After the draw in the round, score 1-1 in Buftea, the duel in Cisnădie had a huge stake for both teams. However, Şelimbăr clearly dominated the game and had numerous opportunities, hitting a Denis Moldovan, on loan from U Cluj, who was in excellent shape.

Moldovan kept CS Dinamo alive

Şelimbăr started the game better and controlled the game from the first minutes. The first big opportunity came after an excellent action from the own half, when Alexandru Luca was left alone with the goalkeeper, but Denis Moldovan, Horațiu Moldovan's brother, had a spectacular intervention and rejected in the corner.

The goalkeeper of the “dogs” continued the defensive recital in the 34th minute, when Daniel Benzar sent a superb execution from a distance, but the Dynamo goalkeeper incredibly pulled the ball out from under the crossbar.

By half-time, the Sibiians were close to scoring once more, after Lenghel escaped on the counterattack and shot just over the goal from the edge of the box.

The penalty that broke the balance

The second half kept the same scenario. Şelimbăr continued to press, and Moldovan saved his team again at the beginning of the half, after a strong shot sent by Bucuroiu and deflected spectacularly into the crossbar.

After other important interventions by the Dynamo goalkeeper, the decisive moment of the game came in the 72nd minute. Leca committed a handball inside the box, in a phase disputed by the guests, and the referee Viorel Flueran pointed to the point with a lime.

Petrisor Petrescu he took responsibility and emotionlessly converted the penalty kick two minutes later, bringing the goal that decisively brought Şelimbărul to the rescue.

Vuc ends the match definitively and sends CS Dinamo to League 3

CS Dinamo tried to force the tie at the end, but made a total mistake in defense, and the Sibiu took advantage immediately. In the 84th minute, Patrick Vuc closed the game definitively after a huge error in the Dynamo defense. The hosts went on the counterattack in a clear superiority, three against one, and Vuc fulfilled a simple formality and made it 2-0.

The goal definitively put an end to the hopes of the people of Bucharest and confirmed the relegation of CS Dinamo to League 3.

For the Sibiu team, the rescue from relegation comes at the end of one of the most complicated seasons since the promotion to League 2, achieved in the summer of 2021. Şelimbăr finished the regular season in 17th place, with only 20 points, and in the play-out it took 6th place in Group B, a position that sent the team to the playoffs.

However, the Sibiu managed to save their season and will play in the next season in League 2. On the other hand, CS Dinamo dramatically ends the first season in history in League 2. The Bucharesters were promoted last summer, but had big problems adapting to the level of the second echelon.

The “Dogs” finished the regular season in 19th place and reached the play-offs after narrowly avoiding direct relegation in the play-outs. In Group A, Câmpulung Muscel and Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț had already been relegated, and now CS Dinamo completes the list of teams that will evolve from next season in League 3.
