David Alaba (33 years old, central defender) has announced that he will leave Real Madrid this summer. His contract expires on June 30.

The Austrian leaves Real Madrid having managed to collect an impressive number of trophies, two Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, two European Super Cups, two Spanish Super Cups and two Club World Championships.

David Alaba leaves Real Madrid

Alaba arrived in Madrid in the summer of 2021, from Bayern, being then considered a very good transfer, especially in the conditions where no transfer fee was paid.

Its impact was immediate. In his first season, he became a key part of Carlo Ancelotti's side and one of the leaders of that unforgettable Champions League (2022) campaign, that of spectacular comebacks against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City, before lifting the trophy in Paris against Liverpool.

Particularly serious was the rupture of the cruciate ligament suffered in December 2023, an extremely hard blow from which he was never able to fully recover. That injury completely changed the latter part of his career at the “blanco” club and prevented him from having any more continuity and a leading role on the pitch.

Alaba will leave free of contract, and on Saturday, although in the background due to the tribute to Carvajal, he will also have his moment at the Bernabeu, according to Marca.

“Real Madrid CF and David Alaba have agreed to end his time as a player at our club at the end of this season.

Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and affection to a player who was part of a team that marked one of the most successful stages in our history.

David Alaba defended our shirt in 131 matches over 5 seasons, winning 11 trophies: 2 Champions Leagues, 2 Club World Championships, 2 European Super Cups, 2 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.

For the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, «David Alaba will carry with him the affection of all Madridism for his dedication, his work and for an iconic image on our way to the 14th European trophy, which symbolized the celebration of a victory and which is already history for our club. Real Madrid will always be his home».

Real Madrid wishes David Alaba and his family the best of luck in this new phase of their lives.

The Santiago Bernabeu stadium will pay tribute to him on Saturday, on the occasion of the last championship match that our team will play”.
