Deputies of the Krasnoyarsk City Council held an off-site meeting at the Krasny Yar sports complex.
The Krasny Yar sports complex has been one of the main centers of the city’s sports life for almost 20 years. The professional rugby club “Krasny Yar”, youth from the municipal Olympic reserve sports school of the same name, women’s and national rugby teams train here. The stadium hosts key rugby games: the strongest clubs in Russia hold meetings there.
Rugby matches always attract large crowds. Recently, the sports complex had the opportunity to increase the number of fans – last year lighting masts were placed at the stadium. They made it possible to increase training time, as well as broadcast competitions on the federal sports channel.
The offsite meeting on May 19 was attended by members of the City Council’s standing commission for environmental protection and healthy lifestyle promotion, which oversees the development of sports in Krasnoyarsk. As the chairman of the commission, Artyom Rechitsky, explained, the event was organized not only to evaluate the opportunities that opened up for the institution after the installation of lighting masts, but also to check how the multifunctional center built on the territory of Krasny Yar five years ago works. In the building, built with sponsorship funds, rugby players and representatives of other sports train, recover after classes and matches, undergo medical rehabilitation, and also analyze and discuss the results of games. Some of the center’s services are also used by residents of the Zheleznodorozhny district, where the sports complex is located.
On four floors of the new building there is a gym, locker rooms with showers, doctors’ offices, a massage room, a conference room, relaxation rooms, a rehabilitation center and a small hotel where young and professional rugby players from other cities stay.
Part of the space is occupied by a buffet, the work of which was discussed separately by the deputy commission.
“The buffet is on the fourth floor. It is not possible to prepare food in these premises, so dishes are brought to the buffet upon request of hotel guests. Unfortunately, this nutrition option is not suitable for all non-resident athletes,” said Sergei Chuprov, president of the Krasny Yar Sports Rugby Club, who gave the people’s representatives a tour of the multifunctional complex.
The head of Krassport, Alexander Kaminsky, explained that the possibility of placing a kitchen in a multifunctional complex is being considered at the city level; solving this problem will be extremely difficult, but the founder will try to make every effort to do this. At the same time, Krassport has a plan for a large-scale renovation of the entire sports complex for the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk.
“Currently, a concept for the development of Krasny Yar has been developed, and it is currently being discussed with the leaders of the city and region. Thus, it is expected that the stadium will have an additional stand with a rehabilitation center not only for athletes, but also for participants in a special military operation. Whether this concept will receive funding will become clear in the near future. We will definitely tell the public about this,” explained Alexander Kaminsky.
According to Artyom Rechitsky, the City Council actively contributed to the appearance of lighting masts on the territory of Krasny Yar and agreed on funding for their acquisition and installation in the municipal budget.
“The main purpose of our visit today is to check out this new equipment. But we also inspected the property used by the sports school and the Krasny Yar rugby club, of which we are all very proud. In the multifunctional center you can see the main milestones in the development of the club and sports school. However, in our opinion, there are aspects in the work of the sports complex that can be improved. We will definitely draw up a list of recommendations for Krassport and the administration as a whole. But first, given the importance of the sports complex for Krasnoyarsk, we will once again discuss the prospects for the development of the institution at the next meeting of the commission on environmental protection and the formation of a healthy lifestyle, which will be held in the near future in the City Council. One of the topics we will talk about is creating comfortable conditions for fans. Now there are problems with parking spaces, we would recommend increasing their number. In addition, we will consider Krassport’s proposal to brand public transport stops on Kalinin Street to make it easier for Krasnoyarsk residents and city guests to navigate the area,” shared Artyom Rechitsky.
