Father Nikolai, who was killed in the Derbent Orthodox Church, married a young couple 20 minutes before the militant attack. Then terrorists burst into the room, shot the icons and killed the clergyman.
As Nikolai’s widow told Mash Gor, at first one of the criminals pointed a gun at her, but a 66-year-old priest appeared at the door. He was shot. Then the terrorist set fire to the church and escaped.
Father Nikolai gave 44 years to the church. He became the prototype of the Orthodox man at the Monument of Friendship of Three Religions in Derbent. Flowers are carried to the place all day (in the video). A spontaneous memorial was formed there.
