The England international midfielder took to his Instagram account minutes after the title was confirmed to share a photo with his team-mates. The post's caption, accompanied by a red heart and trophy emoji, read: “I told you all… it's done”.
Rice had memorably stated that the title fight was not over yet, even after the Gunners' painful defeat to the Citizens at the Etihad (1-2), which then knocked Arteta's team out of first place.
Arsenal, the first title after 22 years
Arsenal won the Premier League after a 22-year wait, mathematically securing the trophy this season. The last success dates from the legendary 2003-2004 season.
This is the 14th Premier League title in the club's history. In addition to the championship success, Arsenal also qualified for the UEFA Champions League final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain, with the chance to win the European trophy for the first time.
