Monday, May 18, Farul Constanța was defeated, at home, by Metaloglobus Bucharestscore 0-1, and that sent the band from the city on the shores of the Black Sea to the barrier to stay in the Super League. At the end of the game, extremely nervous, the ultras verbally attacked the players and Gică Popescu, and the gendarmes stopped them from reaching the official stand area.

Farul Constanța played a modest game at home, in the last stage of the Superleague play-out. Flavius Stoican's team was defeated 1-0 by Metaloglobus and will have to play a tie with Chindia Târgoviște to stay in the first echelon of Romanian football.

From the start of the match, the atmosphere was tense in the stadium, with Farul supporters chanting against the president Gheorghe Popescu. Moreover, throughout the past week, there were counters between the two camps.

Ultras of Farul Constanța, harsh chants at the management and the players

The situation escalated after the confrontation ended. The final whistle of the game signaled the riot in the stands of the small arena of the Ovidiu sports base. While the spectators from Constanta were limited to whistling, the ultras of the Lighthouse caught fire. They asked the footballers to come to the front of the pitch, but they stopped 20 meters from the dividing fence and refused to talk to the nervous fans.

At that moment, the harsh chants started at them. “You don't deserve to play in blue and white” and “Serie B players, we break your legs!”were the messages to Denis Alibec and company. Disturbed, the players turned their backs and left for the locker room.

The hosts' gallery left the stadium and went in front of the official stand, where they were met by an impressive cordon of gendarmes. Because of the tense situation, extra law enforcement was brought in, as usually happens at matches with big teams, which come accompanied by many fans.

The supporters were peaceful, but chanted harshly against the players, but especially Gică Popescu, many of them asking the majority shareholder of Farul to come before them. They didn't get any answers, so they finally left angry, but without answers.

That's our level now. It's a shame to lose at home in the last leg, especially when you have the game in hand. They played without half a team, we prepared well all week, we had confidence, support from the fans, families and management, and we are not able to take a single point at home. It's shameful
