We all know how difficult it is to remove burnt sugar or fat from glass ceramics: white marks remain, stains from a rag and the fear of damaging the surface with a hard sponge. And if you need to clean up before guests arrive, it turns into a real race against time. But there is a way that makes cleaning quick, safe and with perfect results.
Experienced cleaners have not used aggressive sprays for a long time and use a simple method with improvised means. No need for expensive gels, metal scrapers or the risk of scratching the finish.
How to clean glass ceramics quickly and without scratches:
- Mix one tablespoon of baking soda and two tablespoons of water in a bowl to form a thin paste.
- Apply the mixture to the cooled surface of the stove and leave for one to two minutes to soften the dirt.
- Use the soft side of a sponge or microfiber cloth to gently wipe the burnt area using circular motions.
- Wipe off any remaining baking soda with a clean, damp cloth, leaving no white residue behind.
- For a final shine, wipe the stove with a dry paper towel or microfiber cloth.
Tip against old stains: If there are dark traces of burnt milk or sugar on the surface, place a damp cloth with baking soda on the stain for three to five minutes. Softened carbon deposits can be easily removed without friction or effort.
This method is ideal for glass ceramic hobs, glass oven doors, mirrored hoods and tempered glass kitchen splashbacks. It removes grease, carbon deposits and fingerprints, does not scratch the surface and leaves a light protective layer that repels new dirt.
If you need to clean tough old stains, you can add a drop of dishwashing detergent to the mixture, it will enhance the cleaning effect without damaging the glass.
