Jannik Sinner (24, 1 ATP) claimed his 32nd consecutive Masters 1,000 victory in the quarter-finals in Rome on Thursday, surpassing Novak Djokovic's 31.

Jannik Sinner seems unstoppable for the past three months. The world number one defeated Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals in Rome on Thursday, 6-2, 6-4, to record his 32nd consecutive Masters 1,000 victory. This achievement puts him in first place in a ranking of successes tied in such tournaments. Until Thursday, the leader was Novak Djokovic, who had collected 31 consecutive victories in 2011 between Indian Wells and Cincinnati.

Sinner has lost only two sets in the 32 matches he has won. From his second-round victory in Paris to his third-round triumph in Miami, the 24-year-old won a record 37 consecutive sets.

I'm happy, but I'm focused on Friday's semi-final game. It's an important match, I need to recover my physical strength. We played a lot and Friday night will be a very difficult game. Physically it will be tough, night games are always like that. No matter how it goes, it's a win if I win, but it's okay if it goes wrong. I would have a few extra days to recover my strength before Paris”, Jannik Sinner said at the press conference, as quoted by ubitennis.

The Italian is two wins away from his sixth Masters 1,000 tournament and his first triumph in Rome. Sinner won Paris 2025, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo and Madrid in 2026.

I'm writing my story, things are already going well. I never imagined I would end up here, I'm a good person, and that matters more than anything else, other than the level I played at. For the rest of my career I hope to stay like this and play solid – Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner: “You get physically exhausted when you play on clay”

What did he change to play so well on clay? “We don't just have to look at the results, last year I played well on clay as well. This is the first year I won something important on clay and I will improve physically. If you improve physically, it helps you a lot on clay.”

The world leader emphasized: “You get physically exhausted when you play on clay. The shifts are longer, then we have completely different tournaments. In Monte Carlo everyone gets more tired, then Madrid is a special tournament. Rome is the first tournament proper on clay, with three weeks of training and matches. Here you can see the level to then go to Roland Garros. I am satisfied, after this tournament I need rest.”

His opponent will be decided on Thursday evening, after the match between Martin Landaluce (20 years old, 94 ATP) and Daniil Medvedev (30 years old, 9 ATP). In 2026, only two players managed to beat Jannik Sinner: Novak Djokovic (Australian Open) and Jakub Mensik (Doha).
