Dominic Fritz: “I agree that now the ball is in PSD's court.” USR and PNL will go with the same message to the consultations with Nicușor Dan

USR President Dominic Fritz said on Monday, May 11, that PNL and USR will go with the same message to the formal consultations with President Nicușor Dan and stressed that, at this moment, it is important that the two parties “to act together”.

“There were informal discussions with the aim, I think, of informing the president what the parties' perspectives are, because it's not nice for him to find out from the press or through other statements, but directly from us and to get an idea. As I understand now, a round of more formal consultations will follow in which larger teams from the parties will come.
These days, I am in very close contact with Ilie Bolojan, precisely because USR and PNL decided that at this stage we should coordinate our steps and give a united response to the destructive action or destructive collaboration PSD-AUR, to have a constructive collaboration for Romania between PNL and USR.
So, yes, I consult with him and we try that in the next days, in the next weeks and why not, further, to act the linet”, said Dominic Fritz, at TVR Info.
He also stated that PNL and USR will go with the same message to the consultations with Nicușor Dan and that the two parties agreed to consult before taking different public positions.
The leader of the USR also emphasized that PSD will no longer form a majority.
“We already made a very clear, unequivocal decision a few weeks ago, a decision without emotions, in which we said that if the PSD goes so far and blows up the coalition, brings down the Government with the AUR votes, then we will no longer be able to sit down at the table to restore this government majority.
It was a very clear decision, taken. The PNL made the same decision, so no one can say that they are surprised by this consequence, after all, ours”. said Fritz.

He also said that USR wants to be consistent and clear politically, which is why the party announced in advance that it will no longer form a majority with PSD and that it will coordinate with PNL.
“Because in politics there must also be a minimum degree of consistency, a minimum degree of clarity, and I offered this clarity not punctually, not surprisingly, after the vote on the motion, but announced a long time ago. So, I consider that our line, that we will no longer form a majority with PSD and that we will coordinate, between PNL and USR, is a clear line and not an irrational line. I agree that now the ball is in PSD's court.
They made this majority, they found votes in Parliament to bring down the government, along with AUR. And they are the ones who now have to come up with their vision, what kind of government they want to put there. If they want a minority government, they must say with which votes they want this government to pass the Parliament. We will certainly not be the ones raising our hands for the PSD, that would be absurd.”
The leader accuses the PSD of repeatedly breaking the protocol of the former coalition and says he has no confidence that the Social Democrats will keep their promises if they return to government.
