Iran announces it has sent its response to the latest US proposal to end the war

Iran sent through Pakistan on Sunday its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the Middle East war, Tehran's state media said, according to AFP.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran sent today (Sunday), through the Pakistani mediator, its response to the latest plan proposed by the United States,” the official IRNA news agency reported.

It did not provide details on Iran's response, limiting itself to stating: “According to the proposed framework, the negotiations at this stage will focus on the issue of ending the war in the region.”

The other day, the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Tehran is still analyzing the US proposal that would lead to a negotiated solution to the conflict.

“The proposal is being analyzed and, once we reach a definitive conclusion, we will certainly announce it,” said spokesman Ismail Bagaei in statements broadcast by Iranian media.

At the same time, the head of US diplomacy, Marco Rubio, declared that he expects a response from Iran in the course of these days regarding “serious” negotiations for a peace agreement.

“We are waiting for a response from them. We will see what this response will show. We hope that it will be something that will allow us to enter into a serious negotiation process,” said the US Secretary of State.
