Fabian Hurzeler, the youngest manager in the history of the Premier League, has extended his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion until the summer of 2029. The 33-year-old German had a contract until 2027, but the Seagulls management decided to quickly offer him a new deal after his impressively successful season in England.
Hurzeler arrived at Brighton in the summer of 2024 after his experience at St. Pauli, and immediately became the youngest technician in the history of the Premier League.
Fabian Hurzeler, after extending his contract with Brighton: “I like working for this club”
The German technician spoke about the special relationship he has with the club and the city of Brighton.
“I love working for this club and living in this city, so I'm happy to have signed this contract. This long-term commitment is an honor and only strengthens my desire to succeed in achieving our shared long-term vision.
From the very beginning, we have always focused on building an identity, developing the team, challenging the established norms and raising our standards every day. I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far, and I'm even more excited for what's to come“, Hurzeler told the club's official website.
Brighton blocked Leverkusen's interest
According to skysports.com, the German coach had entered the list of several important clubs, both in England and in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen were closely monitoring Hurzeler, but Brighton boss Tony Bloom decided to secure his future with a new contract.
At the start of February, some Brighton fans were calling for him to be sacked after the 0-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. However, the German completely turned the situation around, and the streak of six victories in the last nine games brought the team back into the fight for European cups.
After 35 matches, Brighton sit 8th in the Premier League with 50 points, just two lengths off sixth.
